St. Maries Chorale
About Us
Originally known as ‘Festival Chorus / St. Maries Singers,’ the group was established in 2012. In February 2022, the group was renamed ‘St. Maries Chorale.’
St. Maries Chorale is a non-auditioned choir that offers a less demanding performance schedule than that of St. Maries Musica. We have restructured our ensembles and all Musica members will now also automatically be members of our non-auditioned choir Chorale. The combined choirs rehearse from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings at First Saints Community Church in Leonardtown, MD. The 2024 spring concert season is being planned. Rehearsals for the 2024 spring season begin January 15, 2024. Chorale members pay tuition each season and may also need to purchase concert apparel.

Do I have to audition for this choir? No, all singers are welcome. The St. Maries Chorale is a non-auditioned choir.
What kind of time commitment is there? Rehearsals will be held at First Saints Community Church, 25550 Point Lookout Rd, Leonardtown, MD from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Where do you rehearse? Rehearsals will be at First Saints Community Church, 25550 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD, 20650, One or more concerts take place at the end of the season.
How big is the group? At this time, there is no limit on the number of singers. All are welcome. Men’s voices are particularly needed.
What kind of songs do you sing? SMCA has a long history of performing many types of music, from classical to contemporary. This choir will continue that tradition of singing selections for mixed voices.
Are there any fees or dues? There are member dues which in part cover the costs of staff, music, rehearsal and concert venues as well as other administrative expenses. Dues are $50.00 per season for St. Maries Chorale members.
Registration
2024 spring Chorale registration for new singers is now closed. Current Chorale members are asked to register each semester to help determine music ordering quantities. Please register by Jan. 2, 2024. As a member of St. Maries Chorale, it is expected that you will help serve on a committee. More information about these opportunities will be provided at future rehearsals. Tuition fees for St. Maries Chorale are $50.00 per season. ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Dr. Bethany Alvey is the SMCA Artistic Director. She will be director for both St. Maries Chorale and St. Maries Musica.
ACCOMPANIST
Emily Zawada is the SMCA Accompanist. She will be accompanist for both St. Maries Chorale and St. Maries Musica.
